Interested in playing basketball at SMS?  Tryouts for traveling teams will not happen until December.  


Girls intramural will be from 2:45 - 4:15 M-F for two weeks. All girls are welcome to practice skills and


get ready for the upcoming season!  Boys intramural will start right after Thanksgiving break and go for


two weeks. Please just make sure you have a sports physical on file with the office.  That’s all you need


to participate. Hope you see you there!

Are you ready to put your fire starters to the test?  There will be an OIDFY meeting in Mrs.


Sparks' room this Thursday.  Bring your fire starters and appetite to roast marshmallows rain or


shine.

 


COSTA RICA TRAVELERS- We are meeting on Friday, November 9th, 2:30 - 3:30 in Mrs Marine’s


room. Be sure to bring all the paperwork that we passed out last meeting along with a $200 check


made out to Ecoteach. Bring a pencil and be ready to take notes in our journal that we will be


making. Adios!


 

THE SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR IS COMING TO SMS!!


When: Monday, November 5th through Friday, November 9th


Times:  The book fair will be open during the school days and also until 5:00 pm on Wednesday,            


November 7th!  Bring your family to the book fair after school on Wednesday!


Where:  In the SMS Library


When you make a purchase in the book fair, you can enter a raffle to win a basket of books.


All proceeds from the book fair go toward books for our library.  See you at the book fair!

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO PAY ANY OUTSTANDING FEES IF YOU WANT TO GO TO THE DANCE!!!!!!

 

FROM THE LIBRARY:  This is a reminder that students who have not taken care of their library fees and fines will not be able to attend the dance on October 31st.   Late notices were delivered on Wednesday to all students who had a late book and/or a fine. Many students still have not turned in their late book, renewed their late book and/or paid their fine.  It is your responsibility to check on your due date and make sure your library book is not late- this also includes books checked out from the library for English classes. Please see Mrs. Curtiss if you have any questions.

COSTA RICA TRAVELERS: Our first meeting is on Friday, 2:30 - 3:30, Mrs Marine’s room, students only. Please bring a pencil.

 

IDAHO BATTLE OF THE BOOKS / IBOB Meeting:  Today Wednesday, October 17th, during lunch in the library.   Bring your lunch.

 

Wrestlers. If you missed the meeting last week, please see Mr. Noble for information and paperwork to get eligible for our season. The first practice is Monday, October 22nd.

 

Mr. Noble and Mr. Fry are looking for a 7th grader who is interested in being a wrestling manager and stat-keeper. This person will be responsible for keeping track of scores and statistics during our wrestling matches and competitions. So you will travel with us when we compete. If you're interested in being a wrestling manager, please see Mr. Noble.

 

Reminder to students that during your lunch hour, you are not allowed in the halls. When you finish your lunch, you are to go outside and MAY NOT head to your locker to put things away.

Bullpups, wrestling is just around the corner. Our first practice is on Monday, October 22nd. If you are considering being a Bullpups wrestler, plan on attending an informational meeting this Friday, October 12th, during both lunches. The 1st lunch meeting will be in Mr. Fry's classroom, and the 2nd lunch meeting will be in Mr. Noble's classroom. Get your lunch and head immediately to the meeting. If you have questions, please see Mr. Noble. Also, the wrestling team is needing a 7th grade manager/stat keeper. If you are interested and would like more information, see Mr. Noble.

Interested in joining a club at school?  An outdoor club? OIDFY, Outdoor Idaho Drug Free Youth club might be for you.  OIDFY is a club at SMS that takes place during lunch time and meets 2-3 times a month.  OIDFY wants to teach students outdoor recreation skills and wilderness survival skills, along with the importance of leading a drug free lifestyle. At the end of the school year, we hope to be able to have a weekend camp trip that encompasses everything we learn throughout the year.  If you are ready to take part in an adventure with friends and meet new friends, then come to Mrs. Sparks' office on Tuesday, October 9th during your lunch period. Bring your lunch and a friend!

 

IDAHO BATTLE OF THE BOOKS MEETING:   Wednesday, October 10th, during both lunches in the library  (bring your lunch). Did you turn in your permission slip? If not, please bring it to the meeting.  The books have arrived! Let's start reading!!

Do you love to read? Do you love to compete? If so, Idaho Battle of the Books (IBOB) is the program for you! It is like sports, but with books! Teams of 4 students will read a selection of 16 books for the next four months and then compete against other teams with questions from the books. The library will have the books available to loan to IBOB team members
