After tough deliberation and four boxes of kleenex, I have chosen the 10 mathletes to represent SMS at the Chapter Competition in Coeur d' Alene on February 21st. The core team will be comprised of Captain Caleb Reasor, Davis Macdonald, John Keegan, and Stacey O'Connell. The alternate team will be comprised of Captain Cresanna Authier, Antonio Briatta, Austin Vancorbach, and brother Andrew Vancorbach. In addition, two individuals will compete, and those determined two are Aidan Smith, and Elizabeth Couch. It is very important to note that if we take 1st or 2nd place in the competition, we earn a trip to the STATE competition in Boise on March 10. Should the stars align and we make it to state, Cresanna Authier will accompany the core team to Boise to serve as the alternate, should one of the team not be able to compete. Great job, mathletes! Remember that Mathcounts continues every Thursday until the State competition, and that all mathletes are encouraged to keep coming and improving their math skills and continue to stuff themselves with popcorn and apple juice.
