"Attention 8th graders!

It is getting closer to the end of the year, and we wanted to remind you that going to Silverwood is an earned privilege that entails responsibilities; it is not a right.  If you are found not following school rules and procedures you will not earn the right to participate in the Silverwood celebration. Let’s make a choice to be respectful, follow all school rules and earn a trip to Silverwood!"

WIN A BIKE!!! Write an essay/paragraph (length doesn’t matter) with 1 (or more) of the following elements:

  • I deserve to win this bike because…..

  • If I won this bike I would…..

Submit the essay to the front office by 2:30 Wednesday May 16th.

From the Library:  There is a school dance at SMS on  Friday, May 18th. All fees and fines for the library must be taken care of by Thursday, May 17th in order to attend the dance.  Library notices will be delivered on Wednesday, May 2nd. Turn in or renew your

books , pay your fines, and have a great time at the dance!  If you have any questions, please talk to Mrs. Curtiss.

USED BOOK SALE in the library - We have great books for 25 cents! Some are 50 cents or $1.00. Come on in and check it out!  Stock up on books for the summer. The book sale will continue until the last day of school!

We want YOU to be in the talent show!  Please pick up an audition form by the office and have it ready to turn in during auditions on May 14th (Monday) and May 15 (Tuesday) after school in Mrs. Granier’s room.  The talent show will be on June 7th before the 8th graders head to Silverwood. It’s always amazing to see the talent that SMS brings out!

Track athletes, please return your track uniform to either Mr. Holt, Mrs. Sparks, or Mrs. Peterson by Friday.  When all uniforms have been turned in, we will have a pizza party and hand out the ribbons that were earned from the district track meet.  Stay tuned for this date.

8th graders interested in SHS XC.  There will be a meeting on May 31st.  If you have first lunch go to Mrs. Peterson’s class room 6.  If you have second lunch report to the gym.

Coach Stark, wrestling coach at SHS, has scheduled some summer wrestling camps with the high school wrestling team. All wrestlers, grades 7-12 are invited and should consider attending, especially current 8th graders who plan to wrestle for SHS next year. If you're interested in more information on any of these opportunities, please see Coach Noble in room 2 for a flyer to take home to your parents. The following camps are being offered with SHS:

- Oregon camp @ Lakeland H.S. June 1-2, $30

- Libby, MT camp June 9-10, $75

- NIC camp June 27-July 1,  $295

- Redneck Camp @ Pasco, WA July 9-12 (SHS will pay for camp, wrestlers need camping gear and food money)
