Library Reminder: Students are given one extra day from the due date to return a book before a fine is assessed. For each day a book is overdue, 10 cents is added to the fine. You may not check out any other library materials until the fine is paid.
You can find the due date on the due date slip in the book. Please see Mrs. Curtiss if you have any questions.

SMS Food Drive Update:
Mr. Hankel’s homeroom is out to an early lead with 201 items and 126 pounds.
Our overall total is 182 pounds.
Just a reminder: The homeroom class that brings in the most items and the homeroom class that brings in the most pounds of food will be treated to hot chocolate and pastries. Our collective goal is to get a ton (2,000 pounds) of food. A list of what the Food Bank prefers will be given to homeroom teachers, but in general, items must be non-perishable (canned goods or dry goods) that won't spoil. No home-canned food is allowed. Also, the Food Bank does have a need for non-food items like toothpaste, soap, diapers, and baby wipes. Homeroom teachers will send a couple of students down to the counseling center each day with what has been brought in so that it can be counted and weighed. A couple of reminders are of note for those who like to live dangerously and push the boundaries: bottles of water will not count as food items, and you may not break up bulk-packaged items (like tea bags or sugar packets) to pad your item count :)
The main thing is that this is an opportunity to do some good for fellow members of our community!
