Exploratory Department

Welcome to the Sandpoint Middle School Exploratory Department!

Our Exploratory Department offers students a dynamic range of hands-on learning experiences designed to build creativity, confidence, and real-world skills. Through our courses, students are encouraged to explore their interests while developing practical abilities—from healthy meal preparation and artistic expression to teamwork, problem-solving, technical craftsmanship, and North Idaho environmental awareness. These exploratory classes enrich the whole student, helping them discover new passions and grow into capable, well-rounded learners. Our 7th Grade exploratories are Art, Band, Choir and Wellness. Our 8th Grade exploratories are Band, Choir, Industrial Tech, Leadership, Media Arts, and Outdoor Education.
